On 20 April 2015, the European Economic Congress in Katowice – the most important business meeting in Central Europe – will begin. On Friday, 20 March, further details concerning the event organised by PTWP Group were presented.
The 7th edition of the European Economic Congress (EEC) will take place between 20-22 April 2015. During the three days of the Congress, the organisers expect to host about 6 000 participants, 700 speakers and 500 accredited journalists from Poland and abroad.
The group of guests of the Congress will include four European Commissioners, a strong representation of both Polish and European Parliaments, and several dozen Ministers and Deputy Ministers from Poland, Europe and other continents, as well as presidents of the largest enterprises and numerous businessmen.
The new place for about 100 debates planned for this edition will be the International Conference Centre, one of the key facilities of the Culture Zone in Katowice – located on the revitalised site of the former “Katowice” coal mine, in the immediate vicinity of the “Spodek” Sport and Entertainment Arena.
One of the leading topics and issues of the 7th European Economic Congress in Katowice will be a debate under the heading “300 billion for the new Europe – the large-scale investment programme of the European Union”. The group of attendees of this debate will include: Jerzy Buzek – Member of the European Parliament, President of the European Parliament between 2009–2012, Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland between 1997–2001, Chairman of the Council of the EEC; Jyrki Katainen – Vice-President of the European Commission, European Commissioner for Jobs, Growth, Investment and Competitiveness; and Janusz Lewandowski – Chairman of the Polish Prime Minister‘s Economic Council, Member of the European Parliament.

These topics will include: energy, industry and climate, or three-in-one; the energy market 2030; investments in the energy industry; transformations that change the picture of the conventional energy industry in Europe and Poland; the security of raw materials in Europe; smart energy worldwide; the internal energy market in the European Union; renewable energy sources; nuclear energy in Europe and Poland; the citizens’ energy industry; and energy efficiency in Europe.

Among 100 thematic sessions and debates of the 7th European Economic Congress, there will also be an exchange of views in the areas concerning corporate social responsibility and young participants in the European labour market, as well as broadly defined investments.
The agenda provides an abundance of thematic sessions on particular sectors of the economy and public life, such as: energy and raw materials; infrastructure; transport; mining and the steel industry; the health market; construction and real property; the defence industry; regional policy; management; the city; self-government; and the leisure industry.
During the European Economic Congress in Katowice, global topics will assume the form of debates and special meetings. The above will include: The 3rd Africa – Central Europe Economic Cooperation Forum and the 4th Europe – China Economic Forum, as well as the 1st Poland – Countries of the Arabian Peninsula Economic Forum.
There will also be a novelty in the agenda of the largest business event in Central Europe, namely the project styled “EEC – Leaders of Tomorrow”, the purpose of which is to create and promote active citizenship and intensify the involvement of young people in public life. To all students, the project offers open lectures, the possibility of taking part in a debate as a speaker or a listener, and the opportunity to cooperate in the organisation of the event.
The European Economic Congress 2015 in Katowice will be attended by representatives of the largest Polish enterprises (including Grupa Azoty, Enea, Lotos, Orlen, PGE, PKP and Tauron), as well as global brands (e.g. ArcelorMittal, Fujitsu, ING, Kapsch and Siemens).

The European Economic Congress (EEC) in Katowice is a three-day series of debates, meetings and accompanying events attended by six thousand guests from Poland, Europe and the world.
